Hiking in Chandler, AZ

There are many ways to explore the great outdoors - and a favorite of visitors and residents alike is a walk or hike at one the many popular hiking and walking trails in and around Chandler.  Before you head out, brush up on some hiking safety tips before you start that hike!

Located in east Chandler, Veterans Oasis Park is a combination of park land, lake, and wetlands/groundwater recharge basins that is fun for all ages and abilities. It has 4.5 miles of trails where you can hike, ride a bike, or meander while bird-watching.  Science buffs will also enjoy the park's Solar System Walk, is a series of concrete monuments that represent the significant objects in our solar system. The walk is a scale representation of the solar system's major objects. It is set up along a 2,500-foot pathway around the lake. The concrete monuments are spaced at distances relative to their scale in the solar system.

Looking more for a leisurely stroll, check out the Paseo trail - part of the 315-mile Maricopa Trail that runs through metro-Phoenix connecting parks is a great way to explore the area.  

To the west, you'll find South Mountain Park and Preserve with more than 50 miles of trails to explore.

Hiking in San Tan Mountain Regional Park and Preserve offers more than 8 miles of trails for hiking, mountain biking and horseback riding. Trails range from 1.1 miles to more than 5 miles, and range in difficulty from easy to strenuous.
