1. Chandler Fashion Center
Plan a great escape after a day of meetings and throw in a bit of entertainment and rejuvenation – its a snap at Chandler Fashion Center, the state’s second largest mall. With seasonal concert series, special events, entertainment, and dozens of full-service restaurants with a variety of national and local boutiques, this is a must stop on your next trip! 2. Crayola Experience
One of five locations in the world, Crayola’s premier, one-of-a-kind family attraction features dozens of hands-on activities where families can come together and create colorful memories.
3. Downtown Chandler
Downtown Chandler is home to a densely packed array of eateries offering the best in local brew, wine and hand-crafted cocktails coupled with top notch eats. In addition to great sips and bites, visitors will find boutique shops, entertainment and more than 60 events each year with a cozy, neighborhood vibe.
Tip: Parking garages, lots and street parking offer more than 4,300 FREE parking spaces for visiting Chandler.
4. The Eddie Basha Collection
This free, corporate art gallery is a hidden gem and boasts one of the world’s most extensive collections of Western American and American Indian Art. The gallery features more than 3,000 pieces of art in a wide array of mediums including Apache and Pima basketry, Navajo and Zuni jewelry, bronze, wood and natural stone sculptures, Hopi kachinas, acrylics, oil paintings, watercolors, charcoal drawings and more.
Tip: While the gallery is open Monday – Friday, 9:00 am – 4:00 p.m., it is best to call the information line in advance of your visit as the gallery occasionally closes for company-related events and maintenance.
5. Chandler Center for the Arts
The Chandler Center for the Arts provides a robust arts season with performances that will delight and visual arts exhibits that will inspire. With a diverse range of events and performances including Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees, GRAMMY® Award winners and emerging artists, you’re sure to find a great performance at this beautiful facility.
Tip: Plan to take in a meal before or after your performance – the arts center is located within a five-minute walk of more than 30 local eateries, cocktail bars and wine lounges located in Downtown Chandler.
6. Veterans Oasis Park
With more than 100 acres of wetlands and desert habitats, hiking and biking trails, urban birding and fishing, picnic areas and more – this is a great outdoor recreation area. The park is also home to the self-guided Chandler Solar System Walk and the Sonoran Sunset concert series, October through March.
Tip: Located in the eastern part of Chandler, this is a great park where all ages and all abilities can get out and explore the Sonoran desert – it’s truly where the city meets the desert.
7. Chandler Museum
The Chandler Museum campus features both locally produced and nationally traveling exhibits exploring culture, history, and art and serves as the East Valley History Center for researchers. The museum boosts a new 10,000 square foot facility adjacent to the historic McCullough-Price House. The modern building is the centerpiece of the new museum campus, designed to complement the historic house, preserving and honoring the past while representing Chandler’s progress as a community with a bright future. On Saturdays, the museum offers family activities.
Tip: The museum is located on the outer ring road of Chandler Fashion Center mall – which is brimming with more than a dozen, full –service restaurants in addition to their dynamic food court – making it a cinch to grab a bite to eat before or after your visit!
8. Play Golf on Arizona’s first grass course, the San Marcos Golf Course
With more than 250 golf courses located in metro Phoenix, one might say it all started here at the San Marcos Golf Course. While it wasn’t Arizona’s first golf course, the 18-hole course at the San Marcos Golf Course was the first to feature grass instead of sand. Test your skills where celebrities, politicians, and professional golfers have teed off since 1913.
Tip: Throughout the year, the course offers many specials including Golf & Lunch, Back 9 and Breakfast and Night Golf – keep an eye on their Facebook page for these events.
9. Escape Chandler
Recognized at one of the Top 5 Escape Rooms in the Western United States by the American Automobile Association (AAA) - this physical adventure game will delight!
Tip: The rooms are designed for small groups of 4-8, so grab your family, friends or co-workers and get ready to solve a series of puzzles and riddles.
10. Arizona Railway Museum
Dedicated to showcasing the history and heritage of the railroads of Arizona and the Southwest, the outdoor, open-air museum features a re-creation of the Chandler train depot and a number of restored train cars from various time periods in addition to original rail company china and glass.
Tip: The museum is open from Noon – 4:00 p.m., on Saturdays and Sundays from Labor Day to Memorial Day and has a nominal admittance fee for the volunteer staffed museum.
