Celebrating Cajun culture and handcrafted beer - the Southwest Cajun Fest returns to Downtown Chandler. The event showcases the heart and soul of New Orleans paired with Arizona fusion and flavor. Featuring live music from San Diego based blues-rock band, Little Hurricane and the LA based group, The Urban Renewal Project that brings together 15 milleninial musicians for a modern funky, soulful jazz and hip-hop sound. Other groups include the Southern Drawl Band, Funkhaus Brass Band and The Hoodoo Casters. In addition to the music, festival patrons will feel transported to the southeastern region of Louisiana with a variety of food vendors serving up regional dishes including crawfish boil, jambalaya, fried gator, catfish, etouffe, lobster rolls, creole shrimp, hush puppies, red beans & rice, and more. Other highlights includes a wing, crawfish and watermelon eating competition, a kids zone, and southern style cocktails! If you plan to participate in an eating competition - sign ups on the main lawn are from noon - 4 p.m. and the eating contests will begin at 4:15 p.m. So, grab some friends and come on down for a day filled with festive celebration at the Dr. AJ Chandler Park on Saturday, April 21, 2018.
