Chandler restaurants are putting proof in the saying, “Necessity is the mother of invention.” Well, perhaps “reinvention” these days. While still offering delicious dishes (for takeout or delivery, of course), some local spots have gone from neighborhood café to corner market by offering grocery items and household essentials. Here are a few restaurants that can help you put dinner on the table and stock your pantry.

U.S. Egg Breakfast and Lunch

Family-owned and -operated, U.S. Egg has been a Valley staple for 30 years. Continuing its commitment to the community, the restaurant is now offering market essentials that can be purchased with carry-out orders. Food and drink offerings include bulk ground Angus beef, honey-cured bacon, eggs, milk, juices and breads. Cleaning supplies are also available, including toilet paper, bleach and vinyl gloves (limit one each per customer). Regular menu items are available for takeout, from traditional breakfasts and specialty dishes, to burgers, sandwiches and salads.

Z’Tejas

Leave your grocery shopping to Z’Tejas in west Chandler. The Southwestern-style, upscale eatery is now offering $130 grocery packages that can be picked up or delivered to your home for free. The Z’Bodega Grocery Pack includes over 35 bulk items, from rice and beans, to milk and eggs, to fruit and vegetables…with toilet paper and paper towels thrown in for good measure. You can also add other items such as their fish of the day, cilantro-marinated chicken, jalapeno bacon, and Z’Tejas cheese sausages. Check their Facebook page for available items.

Ginger Monkey

Potatoes, check. Eggs, check. Oranges, check. From dairy to meats to produce, Ginger Monkey is the next best thing to a full-fledged grocery store. The restaurant now offers market goods available for purchase at its south Chandler location. For a list of available items, check their Facebook page daily and place your order in advance. For fully prepared meals, try their Feed Your Family packs, which feature a choice of one appetizers, two entrees and choice of two kids meals. Soft drinks are included, and add two draft beers or wine.

Farmboy Market, Meats, Sandwiches

With a corner market already in place at Farmboy, the restaurant naturally offers market staples to customers. Available daily are such goods as fresh-baked breads, local eggs, grass-fed beef, farm fresh eggs, dairy and produce all from Arizona farmers and purveyors. Ready-to-eat meals are also available at the market and include packs that serve up to 10 people. Choose your meats, sides, rolls, sauces and salads, and wash it down with iced tea or lemonade, available in half gallons.
