From the weekly Farmer's market of Downtown Chandler to celebrating everyone's favorite flightless fowl - the ostrich, there are parades, improv comedy, and a grand barbecue and craft beer celebration, March events in Chandler, AZ are not to be missed!

Chandler Farmers Market

Calling all Farmers Market fans! The Chandler Farmers Market occurs every Thursday through May in Downtown Chandler. Featuring a great selection of fresh produce, bread, tamales, and other delicious treats! In addition to the tasty treats, arts, crafts, and jewelry are also items available by select vendors and the market features live music.

The legendary sketch and improve comedy group from Chicago visits Chandler! The Second City - Fully Loaded show will be full of laughs, as the stars of this show feature songs, sketches and improvisation. Alumni from this hilarious group include Tina Fey, Stephen Colbert, Steve Carell, Gilda Radner, Bill Murray and many more.

Mayor's Ostrich Festival 5K Fun Run/Walk

Date: Saturday, March 5, 2016

Fees: Registration costs $25 until 6:00 pm on March 4th; $30 the day of the event, March 5th 

On your mark, get set, go! All runners and walkers are welcome to participate in the 14th Annual Mayor's Fun Run. Participants 11 years of age and older receive a free shirt, and of course, a chance for bragging rights as top finishers will receive awards. In addition to the fun run, a Health Fair will be held from 6:00 a.m. - noon at Dr. A.J. Chandler Park in Downtown Chandler.

28th Annual Ostrich Festival Parade

Date: Saturday, March 5, 2016
Time: 10:00 a.m.
Admission: Free

The 28th Annual Ostrich Festival Parade commences at Ray Road and Arizona Avenue, with the parade route heading south to Chicago Street. The yearly parade features over one hundred entries including bands, dance teams, floats, and dignitaries. This event is perfect for the entire family. Be sure to get your blankets and lawn chairs and grab a good seat along Arizona Avenue!

28th Annual Ostrich Festival

The month of March in Chandler can only mean one thing...Ostriches! The 28th Annual Ostrich Festival returns to town at Tumbleweed Park. The nationally renowned festival features food, beer gardens, music, carnival rides, games, arts, crafts, and of course ostrich races. This year's event will also feature a petting zoo, pig races, camel and pony rides, and a sting ray exhibit where guests will be able to not only learn about the creatures but also get an opportunity to pet and feed them.

Chandler Family Bird Walk

Gather up the kids and explore the great outdoors on beautiful Saturday morning at the monthly Chandler Family Birdwalk! The guided bird walks are held every Saturday of the month, through April, at the Veterans Oasis Park and Chandler Nature Center. Enjoy walking around the water recharge ponds, with walks departing every 15 minutes, and lasting approximately 45 minutes. This is a fun family activity for all ages!

Sonoran Sunset Concert Series

Plan a nice, lakeside evening enjoying live music at Veterans Oasis Park at the March Sonoran Sunset Concert. The concert is held at the lakeside amphitheater and is open to all ages. Concert goers are encouraged to bring their chairs, blankets and food. March's featured performer is The Knockabouts - Arizona's premier, traditional Celtic Band! 

In the event of inclement weather, the event will be held indoors.

Shamrockin' Art Walk

The Downtown Chandler Art Walk is wee bit Irish this month as a variety of bands join the evening's festivities making it not only a great event showcasing local artists, but a great evening in Downtown Chandler. Over 50 artists will display their work for sale featuring photography, woodworking, paintings, finely-crafted jewelry and so much more! The Chandler symphony will kick off the night with a 6-7 p.m. performance followed by June Apple - an eclectic music trio that combines Americana, Irish, Folk, Bluegrass, Jazz, Rock, Blues and World Music.

7th Annual Great American Barbeque & Beer Festival

Admission: $12 online; $15 at the gate; Children 12 years of age and younger are free

The Great American Barbeque & Beer Festival returns to Downtown Chandler for a seventh year. The festival is a yearly treat for barbecue lovers as they get to indulge their BBQ craving as 60+ pit masters get ready to feed crowds with their tasty pork ribs, pulled pork, brisket and chicken. Those looking for an ice cold adult beverage to wash down their food with are in luck, as SanTan Brewing Company will feature over 200 kegs of craft beer. Special activities include a rib eating contest, pie eating contest and a Von Hanson's Brat eating contest. The event will feature music from the Ben Miller Band, Zack Deputy and Georgia Chrome, and this year's headliner, Granger Smith.
