October is upon us! Cooler temperatures mean it’s time to go outside for Chandler’s fall events and fun! Whether you say October or Oktober, the month is filled with events including the return of Downtown Chandler’s weekly farmers market, SanTan’s Oktoberfest and celebrations of Chandler’s Greek, Mexican and Indian cultures. Greek Festival of Chandler, A TASTE OF GREECE

Dates/Times: Saturday, October 1, 2016, 11:00 a.m.-10:00 p.m.; Sunday, October 2, 2016, 11:00 a.m.-7:00 p.m.
Location: St. Katherine Church, 2716 N. Dobson Road, Chandler, AZ 85224
Admission: $3; Children under 12 years of age are free.  ‘Like’ the A Taste of Greece page on Facebook and receive 1 free admission!
Opa! The Chandler Greek Festival is a weekend long celebration being held Friday, September 30th – Sunday, October 2nd at St. Katherine Church. The event is a celebration of all things Greek, featuring Greek food and music.  The Greek Festival of Chandler is perfect for all ages. Proceeds from the event benefit St. Katherine Greek Orthodox Church. 


SanTan Oktoberfest 

Date: Saturday, October 1, 2016
Time: 3:00 – 11:00 p.m.
Location: Downtown Chandler, Dr. AJ Chandler Park, 3 S. Arizona Avenue, Chandler, AZ 
Admission: $10, pre-sale tickets can be purchased at Bashas’. Tickets are also on sale at SanTan Brewing or online for $12. 
The 9th Annual SanTan Oktoberfest makes its return to Downtown Chandler with plenty of craft beer, German food and live music.  The family-friendly event features a family zone, trike races and assorted games as well as the Von Hanson’s Brat eating contest.  Headlining this year’s musical entertainment will be Roger Clyne & the Peacemakers and Reel Big Fish.


17th Annual Mariachi Festival

Date: Saturday, October 1, 2016
Time: 7:00 p.m.
Location: Chandler Center for the Arts, 250 N. Arizona Avenue, Chandler, AZ 
Admission: $24 - $45
The 17th Annual Mariachi Festival presented by C.A.L.L.E. de Arizona is a local favorite that takes place each year at the Chandler Center for the Arts. The high-energy, cultural celebration highlights traditional music and dance of Mexico.  Along with several folklorico dance performers, the 2016 Chandler Annual Mariachi Festival will feature Grammy Award-winning 13-piece ensemble Mariachi Los Camperos de Nati Cano as well as Mariachi Sonido de Mexico.
The doors will open at 5:30 p.m. to allow visitors an opportunity to explore an art exhibition featuring Armandina Cruz, founder of La Casa del Rebozo in Guadalajara and nationally recognized Deshilado Artist Adela Rodriguez.

Chandler Farmers Market

Date: Thursday, October 6th, 13th, 20th and 27th 2016
Time: 3-7:00 p.m.

Admission: Free
Autumn practically screams Farmers Market and October celebrates the return of the  Chandler Farmers Market which is held every Thursday in Downtown Chandler through April, on the west side of  Arizona Avenue. The outdoor farmers market will include fresh produce, fresh-baked breads, tamales, and assorted tasty treats! It’s not uncommon to uncover some unique vendors featuring arts, crafts and jewelry as you peruse the market. 

Chandler Indian Art Market

Dates/Times: Saturday, October 8, 2016, 9:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.; Sunday, October 9, 2016 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. 
Location: Dr. AJ Chandler Park, Downtown Chandler
Admission: Free 
Celebrating Native American Arts and Culture, the Chandler Indian Market is a weekend event featuring authentic Native American arts and crafts from across the Southwest including jewelry, Katsina carvings, photography, pottery, paintings, sculptures and tribal arts and crafts.  Attendees will also enjoy plenty of entertainment and food for purchase. 

Sonoran Sunset Series

Date: Thursday, October 20, 2016
Location: Veterans Oasis Park and Chandler Nature Center, 4050 E. Chandler Heights Road, Chandler, AZ 
Admission: Free
Fall evenings are great for relaxing and there is nothing better than a bit of lakeside, musical entertainment that the whole family will enjoy.  So grab your kids and the blankets and make your way to Veterans Oasis Park for an outdoor concert, part of the Sonoran Sunset Series! The concert series is held on the 3rd Thursday of every month, from October through March at the lakeside amphitheater.  Feel free to bring  snacks or a picnic dinner or purchase assorted snacks and beverages on-site.   

Downtown Chandler Art Walk

Date: Friday, October 21, 2016

Admission: Free
The Downtown Chandler Art Walk showcases local artists and provides a great evening for exploring Downtown Chandler while artists display their work, ranging from oil painting and photographic to finely-crafted jewelry. 

For the month of October, it’s the 3rd Annual Chandler Zombie Walk will not only highlight all the great local art and entertainment, but will take on a Halloween vibe featuring complimentary zombie face painting and photos. Attendees are encouraged to wear dilapidated clothing fit for a zombie traveling the Phoenix desert and a photographer will be on hand to provide keepsake photos of the Chandler event!
