Tumbleweed Tree Lighting Ceremony & Parade of Lights

Festivities start at 4:30 p.m., Parade at 7:00 p.m. and Tree Lighting at 8:00 p.m.
The most iconic holiday tree in Arizona has been a tradition in Chandler for 60 years, the Tumbleweed Tree, a uniquely southwestern tradition that will delight all ages. It all began in 1957 and each tree is created from over 1,000 local tumbleweeds, gallons of paint, 65 pounds of glitter and thousands of lights – the tree lighting is not too be missed and takes place at 8 p.m. sharp on Saturday, December 3, 2016. Make plans to arrive early and catch assorted festivities starting at 4:30 p.m. followed by the parade at 7:00 p.m. Typically, the Tumbleweed Tree is on display through early January.
Lights of the World

This year, families will enjoy the new and largest lights show in North America, Lights of the World from November 18, 2016 -January 29, 2017. Combining the age-old Chinese lantern tradition with state of the art technology, the evening event features 11 exhibits with 75 stunning displays for an unforgettable excursion. Lights of the World includes 30+carnival rides and games, food vendors, acrobatics along with dance and music concerts. Admission starts at $14.99 and tickets may be purchased in advance or on-site.

Feeling nostalgic? Make plans to take in a holiday favorite at the 30th Anniversary of The Nutcracker at the Chandler Center for the Arts! Clara’s sweet and magical journey will surround you as she encounters life-size mice, swirling snowflakes, dancing confections and the Sugar Plum Fairy. A feast for the eyes and ears with colorful and imaginative costumes paired with Tchaikovsky’s original score, Ballet Etudes’ 30th annual production of The Nutcracker is the perfect way to celebrate the holiday season with the entire family. Backstage tours are available following most performances.
Ugly Sweater-themed Downtown Chandler Art Walk

We all have that ‘favorite’ holiday sweater and now’s the time to strut your stuff! Bundle up for a leisurely yet strategic stroll through Downtown Chandler as you squeeze in that last minute holiday shopping! As a part of the monthly Chandler Art Walk Series, this themed art walk is a great opportunity to shop from over 35 local artists, enjoy the holiday lights and some festive live music to keep you in a merry mood. Make a night of it and grab dinner and drinks from one of the two dozen independent restaurants located in Downtown Chandler.
Caribbean Christmas 5K
December 18, 2016, race at 8:00 a.m.
Already thinking of all the great food that you will be enjoying this holiday season? Register and participate in the first-annual, island-themed, Caribbean Christmas 5K in Downtown Chandler. Following the race, receive a beautiful finisher medal, local gourmet coffee, and post-race donut from Fractured Prune as you tap your toes to live reggae music. The race starts at 8:00 a.m.
Downtown Chandler Family Flicks
December 22, 2016, movie starts at 6:30 p.m.
Grab your friends, family and blankets for an evening in the park! This free event features a screening of family favorite, Elf with free hot cocoa and popcorn for purchase and the opportunity to interact with some of Santa’s elves and the opportunity snap a complimentary photo with Santa before the movie starts at 6:30 p.m.

An age-old Italian tradition featuring a one-ring circus for the whole family featuring acrobatic feats, equestrian showmanship, canine capers, clowning and plenty of audience participation.
