Part of the On-House Free Summer Concert at the Chandler Center for the Arts! The Sure Fire Soul Ensemble is a heavy, original, instrumental soul band based out of San Diego, CA. In June of 2015 they released their debut self titled album on Colemine Records. Sure Fire Soul Ensemble has recently shared the stage with Lee Fields and the Expressions, Big Sam's Funky Nation, Kung Fu, Polyrhythmics, New Mastersounds, Monophonics, Kamasi Washington, Orgone, and many others. They draw influence from the masters of the style from the past and modern day, including: The Meters, Isaac Hayes, El Michels Affair, Mulatu Astatke, Budos Band, The Nite Liters, Menahan Street Band, Fela Kuti, and The Poets of Rhythm. There aren’t too many outfits branding themselves ‘heavy cinematic soul” bands in San Diego, let alone any other place. That’s a very specific niche and sound, and from what we’re hearing so far, these guys have it on lock. If you are a fan of the organ (and we know you are), gritty Funk, and beautiful original soundtracks, these guys are for you.
